About me

About Me

I'm Neil, a passionate and empathic counsellor with a deep belief in the power of connection and self-discovery. My approach to therapy is rooted in the idea that together, we can uncover the strengths you already possess and use them to navigate life’s challenges.

I offer Online Therapy across the UK and Walking/Outdoor Therapy in Stockport (Marple, Poynton, New Mills)

I have a strong foundation in Person-Centred Therapy (PCT), which places compassion at the heart of the healing process. If you often feel overwhelmed by self-criticism or a sense of not being "good enough," this approach can be particularly transformative. We’ll work as a team to identify your needs, explore effective techniques, and create a path forward that makes life more manageable and fulfilling.

My Approach

I believe that therapy should be a balance of seriousness and light-heartedness. Humour has its place in the healing process, and I strive to create a space where you feel safe, understood, and supported. Whether we’re delving into attachment issues, incorporating methods from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), or simply holding space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings, my goal is to ensure you never feel alone in facing what’s difficult.

Working Together

Are you feeling overwhelmed by life’s daily challenges? Have you been surviving rather than truly living? If you’re struggling with depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, or other issues, know that you don’t have to face them alone. Together, we will explore your experiences, identify patterns that may be holding you back, and work towards a future that aligns with your values and goals. My approach is always collaborative, ensuring that you are an active participant in your journey of healing and growth.

Inspiration

I meet you where you are, with the understanding that change is not only possible but within your reach. I’m here to walk beside you as you tap into your own resilience and find the power to transform your life. Let’s embark on this journey together.

Specialised Support

We all feel a little lost sometimes, unsure of which decisions are best for us, or weighed down by the stress of daily life. Talking can be the first step in helping you overcome these challenges. I’ve worked with many people facing difficulties such as anxiety, depression, bereavement, family issues, stress, and loneliness. My role is to help you find the root of your problems and facilitate easing the pain you’re going through.

I am trained in Person-Centred Therapy (PCT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Transactional Analysis (TA).

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
