About me
Life can be difficult at times, and it can take courage to say that you need help navigating it. I want to acknowledge the fact that you have decided to seek that support. I can provide a safe place for you to work through the challenges you face, whether it is in person or online. There will be no judgement, simply a willing companion as you explore how to navigate moving forward with your life.
I am a BACP-registered Humanistic Therapist on the Sussex/Surrey border.
As someone who has a background in management in corporate organisations as well as setting up and managing my own company for over 10 years, I have experience of working in very different environments. One of the joys of this is having worked with very different people, each with their own unique experiences.
How I can help
I can support those working through many of life's challenges, including:
- Life changes such as bereavement and grief, career changes and retirement;
- Long-term health conditions, including those living with long-term health conditions and those who are caring for/supporting people with life-limiting conditions;
- Work-related issues like bullying, burnout and stress;
- Negative self-beliefs including low confidence and self-esteem;
- Relationship issues whether at home or in the workplace;
- Sight loss, including supporting family members and those who have received a diagnosis.
I am a Humanistic therapist, which means, while recognising the past, I work with you in the here and now, understanding how your past might influence what you are experiencing. I use the Person-Centred approach as well as Gestalt and Transactional Analysis models to help you find the solutions you need and want.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have a Diploma in Humanistic Therapy and attended the RNIB's "Counselling for Sight Loss Accreditation Course".
During my Diploma, I gained a placement at a local Hospice working with those who were bereaved, anticipating the death of a loved one, or having received a terminal diagnosis, and I continue to volunteer there.
Other qualifications include:
- BA (Hons) Degree in English (major) with Cultural Studies (minor)
I am a member of the BACP and have DBS clearance.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
