About me

Hello, my name is Nasima Begum. I am a qualified art psychotherapist and the founder of Art Psychotherapy Pathway.

Online art therapy sessions with check-ins, progress reviews, discussion of ongoing issues, reflective dialogue, creative prompts, review homework tasks, and check-outs. No art skills needed! Just openness to explore through creativity.

I specialise in supporting individuals facing various challenges, including anxiety, low mood, racial trauma, PTSD, relationship issues, low self-esteem, social isolation, behavioural challenges, and workplace burnout. My clinical training within the NHS provided me with invaluable experience working with adults with learning disabilities and children with neurodiverse conditions, such as autism and ADHD.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a postgraduate Master’s degree in Art Psychotherapy (MA) from the University of Derby. I am a registered professional with the Health and Care Professions Council(HCPC), as well as a member of the British Association of Art Therapists (BAAT).

In addition to my psychotherapy work, I have a bachelor’s degree with honours in Psychology (BSc) from Northumbria University. I previously worked as an Operating Department Practitioner in Neurosurgery at Newcastle Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. This diverse background enriches my therapeutic approach, allowing me to connect with clients from various backgrounds.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

HCPC
Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.

They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.

Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
