About me
I am a very experienced humanistic, integrative counsellor/psychotherapist. This means that I am trained in various models to best suit my clients.
I am trained in dyadic developmental psychotherapy and can provide DDP-informed systemic family therapy.
I work with people from all walks of life from young people to older people and those with learning difficulties and living with neurodiversity.
I am an accredited children's and young person therapist with the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society.
I provide a safe, caring therapeutic environment to help people to work through times of depression and anxiety, PTSD, worry, trauma, relationship difficulties, loss and bereavement.
I provide a Covid safe environment and provide support face to face, online via video link and over the telephone.
Training, qualifications & experience
I began my career working with children and young people, managing residential children's homes and supporting young people therapeutically in the 1990s. I then trained as an independent advocate, and this is the other part of my business, supporting people with mental health issues, learning disability and those who require social care support and may be deprived of their liberty. I studied psychology with counselling completing with a first class honours (BSc Hons Psychology with counselling).
I then gained my postgraduate qualification as a counsellor, becoming accredited by the National Counselling Society and BACP member. I am also an accredited children and young person therapist (CYPT). I started my private practice offering counselling and psychotherapy, and the Advocacy service because the more people I worked with, the more frustrated I became with professional services saying 'we have done everything we can do'. I believe there is always something to try, there is always hope and always a way forward, the work is in finding it and making a plan of support and action!
