About me
Welcome, my name is Nalan. Perhaps you are reading this in the hope of finding someone to support you.
I believe that counselling helps process difficult and challenging thoughts and feelings by focusing on developing the unique potential of each person. I believe we all have the ability to solve our issues and face our difficulties, however at times we may need support to do so. My aim is to help you identify, understand and strengthen inner resources to enable you to live a fuller, more satisfying life.
I provide a safe and confidential space where I use an Integrative Approach which means I use a variety of different therapies that suit the needs of each individual. At times exploring present experiences combined with gaining insight from past experiences that may influence the present world can help. I also use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy alone or to compliment the above approaches helping to identify, challenge and replace automatic negative thoughts and behaviours with objective, realistic thoughts as well as Life Coaching to help identify goals, devise solutions, achieve growth and transformation.
The safe space allows my clients to confidentially share their issues, in a way they feel comfortable in the knowledge that they will be fully heard and understood in an empathic, non judgmental and supportive relationship. My experience includes working with Anxiety including Social Anxiety, Depression/ Low Mood, Life Coaching, Life Transitions, Low Self Esteem/Low Confidence, Panic Attacks, Personal Development, Redundancy, Relationships, Sleep issues, Stress, Trauma and Work Related Issues.
Let's explore those feelings, patterns and issues that are getting in the way of you being happy and look at what changes you can put into place to live your life in the way you want to. Please get in touch for a free consultation or if you have any questions. Nalan

Years ago I was a family law solicitor then became co-ordinator of a Legal Advice Charity. In these two roles I became interested in personal issues. More recently as a psychotherapist I am now in private practice having had a great deal of experience within the NHS and now support people with issues from a therapeutic perspective. I understand the internal and external pressures people can place on themselves that can lead to unhelpful or damaging coping strategies. Therefore, I will work to support you to identify healthier ways of managing emotions and stress. My experience includes working with Anxiety including Social Anxiety, Depression/ Low Mood , Life Coaching, Life Transitions, Low Self Esteem/Low Confidence, Panic Attacks, Personal Development, Redundancy, Relationships, Sleep issues, Stress, Trauma, Work Related Issues.
My previous experiences include counselling and psychotherapy at 'The Awareness Centre' for NHS clients as well as for a local charity 'Third Age Counselling' for elders. I have supported men and women who are straight, gay, lesbian or bi-sexual.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
