About me

You may be someone who is capable, thoughtful, and used to carrying a lot. Yet there may come a point where the effort of holding everything together begins to affect your confidence, energy, and sense of yourself.

You might find yourself overthinking conversations, second-guessing decisions, or feeling emotionally drained in a way that’s hard to explain. Perhaps you’re juggling relationships, work, or family expectations, and noticing that the ways you’ve always managed no longer seem to work in the same way.

You may be used to putting others first, finding it difficult to prioritise yourself or say no, even when you’re feeling stretched. Over time, this can leave you feeling stuck, disconnected from yourself, or unsure what you actually want.

I’m Morwenna, a qualified counsellor based in Stockport, offering face-to-face and online counselling for adults who want a calm, thoughtful space to talk openly and feel genuinely understood.

Many of the people I work with reach a point where they begin to notice something isn’t working in the way it used to, whether that’s in relationships, work, identity, or a deeper sense of themselves. Having a space where you don’t have to hold everything together can bring a sense of relief.

How counselling with me can help

Counselling with me is calm, warm, and centred around you.

Rather than being given advice or pushed toward quick solutions, you have space to slow things down and begin to understand what you’re feeling and why things may have become difficult.

As you feel more heard and understood, things often start to make more sense. Over time, this can look like feeling less stuck in familiar patterns, having more confidence in your decisions, and feeling less responsible for carrying everything on your own.

From there, it can become easier to respond differently in relationships, feel more grounded in yourself, and move forward in a way that feels right for you.

My approach

My core approach is person-centred, which means the relationship we build and your experience are at the heart of the work.

I work in a collaborative and flexible way, adapting to you rather than following a fixed structure.

Alongside this, I may draw on ideas from CBT to support with present-day difficulties such as anxiety or overthinking, and Transactional Analysis to explore patterns in relationships and how earlier experiences may still be shaping how things feel now.

This allows us to gently connect what you’re experiencing in the present with what may have shaped you in the past, while also helping you feel more steady in everyday life.

What it feels like to work together

Feeling safe enough to speak openly, without fear of judgement, is an important part of how therapy helps.

You don’t need to have everything figured out before you begin, and there’s no expectation to explain things perfectly. Many people start counselling unsure how to put their experience into words, or wondering whether their difficulties are “serious enough.”

You are welcome exactly as you are.

We work at a pace that feels manageable, checking in along the way so the process continues to feel supportive and right for you.

Practicalities and next steps
I offer face-to-face counselling in Stockport and online sessions.

If you’re wondering whether counselling with me might feel like a good fit, I offer a free initial phone or Zoom consultation. This is simply a chance to talk briefly about what’s bringing you to counselling, ask any questions, and see how it feels to talk together.

You’re welcome to get in touch whenever you feel ready.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Areas of counselling I deal with

Other areas of counselling I deal with

Alongside the areas listed above, I also work with people who feel emotionally stuck, disconnected from themselves, or unsure why they react the way they do. You might notice self-doubt creeping in, find it hard to make decisions, or feel caught in familiar patterns that don’t seem to shift, even when you try.

Sometimes there’s no single crisis, just a growing sense that something isn’t sitting right. Therapy can offer space to untangle that unease, understand what’s underneath it, and begin relating to yourself with more clarity and steadiness. When things start to make sense, it often becomes easier to respond differently and feel more grounded in yourself.

Further information

My work is grounded in a person-centred approach, meaning our sessions focus on your experience and what feels most important to you. I believe that understanding often comes before change. When you have space to explore your thoughts and feelings without pressure, things can begin to feel clearer and more manageable.

Alongside person-centred counselling, I draw on CBT where helpful for present-day challenges, and Transactional Analysis to explore patterns in relationships and how past experiences may still be influencing you now. This allows us to gently connect the past and present, while also helping you feel more grounded in everyday life.

Therapy can be short-term or longer-term depending on what you need, and we check in regularly to ensure it feels supportive and useful. I am a registered member of the BACP and work within their ethical framework.
