About me

Therapy offers you a safe, confidential space to talk honestly, understand yourself better, and find the changes that work for you. As a trained psychotherapist, I offer short-term, long-term and open ended therapy to adults and adolescents who have a variety of concerns. I have experience working with people experiencing anxiety, depression, low self-worth, unsatisfactory relationships,  grief and those with personality disorders. Get in touch to see if we might be a good fit.

I offer concessionary rates for trainee counsellors and psychotherapists. As a lecturer who teaches counselling psychology, I'm passionate about supporting development and wellbeing of trainee counsellors and psychotherapists.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a fully qualified, experienced psychologist and psychotherapist, BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) registered. I have worked in NHS psychotherapy services and other outpatient counselling organisations within the UK and outside the UK.

I hold a PhD in Neuroscience from Brunel University in London and have completed four years of psychodynamic therapy training, followed by two years of Post-Foundation Training at the Institute of Psychoanalysis in London. This combination of clinical and academic experience has given me a comprehensive foundation in both neuroscience and psychoanalytic therapy practice.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Further information

My approach aims to provide a safe and trusted space, respectful of one's capacity for personal growth. I offer a safe and confidential treatment setting and seek to facilitate therapeutic progress towards healing and living a more fulfilling life. Research on psychodynamic therapy has shown it provides long-term results that last for years after treatment ended.

You don't need a clearly defined problem to consider therapy. In the initial meeting, we will have an opportunity to talk about what you would like from therapy, your reasons for seeking help, and whether it would be helpful to meet for a follow up session to establish whether you feel that you would like to undertake therapy.

The first session is a chance for us to get to know each other and see if we're a good fit. Sometimes this initial assessment takes more than one session, and that's perfectly normal.

I'll ask about what's brought you to therapy now, what you're hoping for, and a bit about your background. This is also your time to ask me questions, get a sense of how it feels to talk with me, and decide whether I'm the right therapist for you.

First sessions are £60 for 50 minutes - the same as ongoing sessions.

Finding the right therapist matters, and I'm happy to answer any questions before you book. Please email me to find out more.
