About me

Hi, my name is Mina - welcome to my page.

I am an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist.  If you’re wondering what integrative therapy is, it’s a combined approach to psychotherapy that brings together different elements of specific theories and therapies. My primary approach stems from the humanistic model of counselling which puts greater emphasis on the client/therapist relationship - something I hope we might have just begun with this very profile.

Despite the rise of mental health awareness, discovering and exploring one’s true self and identity, therapy or counselling is still seen as taboo. The idea of sitting in a room with a stranger and discussing your life and your past, in the hopes (or even fear) of unravelling your experiences or a deep-seated trauma can be daunting. Some people might even attribute it to weakness or shame.

When I decided to become a counsellor, I wanted to dispel this myth. Not the myth that it is scary or daunting because, at times, it can be.  Not even the myth that I am a stranger because for a brief moment, I will be.

I aim to provide you with a safe space where you are heard, supported and truly accepted. A place where there isn’t a right or wrong way. A place where you won’t be judged, feel ashamed or be seen as ‘lesser than’ or weak.

How will the counselling work?

I will support you to work through your problems by giving you the respectful space you need to explore the issues that are affecting you. My approach is to provide a warm, genuine and non-judgemental environment. I will provide a caring and empathic space for you to explore your feelings. The focus will be ‘you’ - this will be 'your time' and 'your space.'

Whatever you are feeling that has led you to this page - whether it is depression, anxiety, grief, low self-esteem, relationship issues, trauma or something else - we will explore this together. Your sessions will be catered for your specific needs. We will do this one day at a time, one step at a time, one conversation at a time.

I do hope the courage that has brought you to this page will lead you to send an email or pick up the phone. I look forward to growing and learning alongside you through this whirlwind we call life.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
