About me
Counselling in Hamstreet, near Ashford, Kent
Are you feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or low in confidence?
Perhaps you find yourself overthinking everything, struggling with self-doubt, or repeating patterns in relationships that leave you feeling hurt or unseen. You may be experiencing anxiety that doesn’t switch off, low mood that feels heavy, or carrying difficult past experiences that still affect how you respond today.
Many people begin to look for counselling because they’re tired of coping on the outside while feeling lost or exhausted inside. Taking the first step can feel vulnerable, and you are not alone in that.
About Me
I’m Michelle, a fully qualified person-centred counsellor based in Hamstreet, just 15 minutes from Ashford in Kent. I am registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
I offer a warm, confidential and down to earth space where you can explore your thoughts and emotions safely, without judgement.

How I Work
My core approach is person-centred, meaning I work at your pace and focus on what feels most important to you.
I don’t analyse or try to “fix” you. Instead, I offer empathy, honesty and genuine presence. I believe meaningful change begins when we feel truly heard and understood.
Our work together is shaped around your individual needs, whether that’s understanding anxiety, low mood, building self-worth, processing trauma, navigating neurodiversity, improving relationships, or adjusting to menopause or long-term health challenges.
The Therapy Space
My private therapy room in Hamstreet provides a calm and welcoming environment, with driveway parking and easy access from Ashford and surrounding areas in Kent. Please see photos.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
I work from my own private practice that I have created mindfully to offer a relaxing, calm and gentle environment.
Offering my clients an environment that adds to the nurturing element of the process. Paying particular attention to feeling at ease. It might be that you struggle with harsh lighting or with hot or cold environments. We can look to make the experience as comfortable as possible.
I am open to offering an environment that works for you.
