About me
Hello my name is Michael Woods, I would like to offer you a safe and empowering environment to be fully accepted and heard in a confidential space. I am a qualified CBT therapist and registered member of the BACP, based in the East End of Glasgow. I value human connection and trust and strive to create a warm and genuine working relationship . My approach is tailored to support individuals on their journey toward self-acceptance and a new perspective. I work with clients face-to-face or remotely via Zoom.
How Counselling can help
Counselling can provide a safe and confidential place for you to explore your thoughts, feelings and emotions to help you understand what might be affecting you. Counselling provides a unique opportunity to speak with someone who is neutral and independent from your friends or family, allowing you to share openly without fear of judgment or concern about burdening those close to you.
My role is to walk alongside you on your journey, supporting you at your own pace in an unhurried environment . My therapy style encourages acceptance, forgiveness , self-respect and love for yourself and others, I believe that the openness of our relationship can offer a supportive and safe place within which to explore, understand and discover yourself. I will use evidence based cognitive behavioural treatment plans , tools and techniques that can help challenge thoughts , beliefs and behaviours that are causing you distress.
Asking for help can feel like a difficult step, but I am here to provide a compassionate, nonjudgmental therapeutic experience grounded in trust. As a trauma informed cognitive behavioural therapist, I also integrate other approaches, including humanistic and person-centered therapies, to suit your individual needs. Through this therapy process, we will develop a strong and trusting relationship where you will have the freedom to be honest ,start to develop healthier ways of thinking and behaving and to make lasting change in your life.

Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
Counselling provides a safe, confidential space for you to explore your thoughts, feelings, and emotions, helping you understand the underlying factors affecting your well-being. It offers the opportunity to speak with someone impartial—without judgment—so you can express yourself freely without worrying about burdening friends or family.
As a CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) therapist, my primary approach focuses on helping you identify and change unhelpful thought patterns, beliefs and behaviours. However, I also draw on an Integrative approach, which combines different therapeutic methods to create a flexible and tailored treatment plan specific to your needs. This way, we can work together to uncover the root causes of your concerns while developing practical strategies for lasting change.
My role is to support you at your own pace, offering a listening ear and a non-directive, open approach rather than telling you what to do. Together, we will build a trusting, collaborative relationship, helping you develop healthier coping strategies and create positive, lasting changes in your life.
I offer a free 20-minute initial consultation via phone or video, where you can ask any questions about counselling and get a sense of how we might work together.
Whether you're seeking short-term or ongoing therapy, I believe in offering a flexible approach, and we can work together to create a therapy plan that suits your needs.
