About me

Hello, I'm Michael and Welcome to my page.

If you are reading my profile, one thing is certain - you have reached a point where you want things to change, and you have found the courage to take the first step to find a counsellor who works for you and with you.

I bring a varied and rich life experience to the therapeutic space. With a lifelong passion for people whether through mentoring, coaching, training and motivational skills during careers in management, personnel or past business experience, counselling is my natural home and the vehicle that enables my lifelong passion to be put to best use to help others.

My aim with my clients is to understand your world as you see and experience it, and your place within it, by providing a safe space where you will experience empathy and compassion, where your confidentiality is assured, and where you will feel safe enough to say what you want without fear of judgement. I want to hear your experience and how that experience impacts on your world.

As an Integrative Counsellor, I work in more than one way using Person Centred, Gestalt, CBT, and Mindfulness models to help clients explore what is troubling them to facilitate change - to heal, grow, and find empowerment.

Here are a few examples of the issues I work with but not exclusively:-

  • Suicidal Thoughts
  • Stress and anxiety
  • Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE)
  • Childhood Emotional Neglect (CEN)
  • Depression and feelings of sadness
  • Self-Harm
  • Self-worth issues
  • Low self-esteem
  • Attachment issues
  • Loss (Bereavement/Grief)
  • Living with Childlessness

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
