About me

My name is Michael Pendlebury. I am a trained Person-Centred, Psychodynamic, and Cognitive-Behavioural Therapist. I use techniques from all these therapies to help you get a better understanding of your thoughts and emotions in a safe and relaxed space.

I want our sessions to be a place for you to feel comfortable to talk and have an open conversation about anything you want. We can go at whatever pace is appropriate for you; I will always respect your decision. I will listen to you and emphasise your life events. I may ask open questions, allowing you to give more details, and I may try to help you see your issues from a new perspective.

I also encourage my clients to use creativity to express themselves. Please feel free to show me anything that is important to you and can help explain how you're feeling, such as a song, poem, painting, or a special object of yours. Additionally, feel free to draw in our sessions, sometimes it is easier to draw how you feel rather than say it.

I offer 1-hour counselling sessions both online, or in-person at the Abbey Road Centre in Bangor, Gwynedd. We can meet as often or as little as you like, but I will try to organise a regular timeslot for you. Before our first session, I offer a free 30-minute meeting session.
