About me

Hi, I’m Mike, a qualified counsellor, If you’re struggling with your relationship to alcohol and need help, I am empathic, understanding, non-judgemental and qualified in helping people transform their relationship with alcohol.

Do you suffer with anxiety, depression, low confidence, low mood, Insomnia, social anxiety and many other mental health struggles? Cutting out alcohol will most likely stop or greatly reduce your symptoms.

The foundation to all good health (mental and physical)

Alcohol free is the foundation of all good health. Many people look to improve their diet, add more exercise, better sleep routines and less stress, and whilst all these things help, they are not much use without the foundation of health, being alcohol free.

My focus is on the middle lane to heavy drinker, however my skill set is not in the area of addiction, recovery or physical dependency.

I help you look at your relationship to alcohol so that you can lead a life that is not held back by the countless problems that alcohol causes. This includes all the short term / long term health problems linked to drinking alcohol. I myself have been alcohol free for 15 months.

Alcohol is the symptom, what's the cause?

I can help you identify your triggers and develop healthy coping mechanisms. Over time, you’ll became more confident in your ability to live without alcohol. You learn that a life without alcohol feels healthier, happier, and more in control. I will give you the support and guidance you need, whilst gaining the understanding that it's possible for you to find freedom and fulfilment in an alcohol-free lifestyle.

My other areas of experience include working with survivors of rape and sexual abuse and I’m currently working with a charity providing support to those in need. In this area I work with clients that suffer with anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts, low self-esteem, guilt and shame. These are often the symptoms of trauma.

If you’d like to take the next step, the best way is to email me at itsyourjourneyyourway@gmail.com or you can find more about me on Instagram @the_alcoholfree_introvert

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
