MA, BADth, HCPC: Creative Arts Psychotherapist

About me

I am a qualified HCPC Sesame-trained Dramatherapist and LSEAT Creative Arts Psychotherapist that utilises Psychodynamic approaches to delivering therapeutic care. I have completed five years of specialist training at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama (RCSSD) and have an additional five years’ experience working within the mental health sector.

My therapeutic practice integrates psychodynamic therapy, Jungian analytics, systemic theory, and the creative arts. Overall, the approach recognises that emotional wellbeing is not only shaped by our personal life experiences- but our relationships, family systems, and the wider social world in which we are a part of.

I offer both in person and online based sessions for families, couples and individuals. Sessions for individuals under the age of 16 will be required to be in person. I offer a free 15/20 minute consulation phone call or video call in advanced of an assessment session.

Training, qualifications & experience

As a Sesame-trained Dramatherapist, my therapeutic approach is rooted in the understanding that creativity and symbolism can offer meaningful pathways to emotional expression and psychological growth. I have a special interest in supporting young people and families with neurodivergence and have specialist training in supporting those navigating school years with either a diagnosed or suspected ADHD/Autism/EBSA.

I have additional training in delivering therapy for non -verbal and preverbal clients through movement and therapeutic touch (MTS) (where clinically appropriate and with informed consent) and recognise that the human experience can be difficult to express through words alone. These embodied approaches are always adapted to each person's comfort, needs, and therapeutic goals. My practice is also informed by Jungian psychotherapy which values the role of dreams, symbols, mythology, archetypes, and both conscious and unconscious processes.

Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working across a broad range of clinical and educational settings. I have worked within an Adult Acute Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), supporting individuals experiencing severe and enduring mental health difficulties within a highly specialist environment.

Alongside this, my work now exists within specialist educational settings including SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) schools, SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) provisions, and PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities) settings. These settings enabled me to support children, young people, and their families with a diverse range of emotional, behavioural needs. The systemics elements of my work explore family dynamics and patterns of communication as well as attachment styles in relationships.

I have a special interest in working with parents and carers to develop strengthened communication, increasing confidence, and ability to building practical strategies around parenting built on trust and compassion. I aim to support families in creating and maintaining nurturing relationships that promote emotional regulation and care.

Areas of Specialism

My practice supports individuals, couples, children, young people, and families experiencing a wide range of emotional, relational, and psychological difficulties. Particular areas of specialist interest and experience include:

  • Trauma and Attachment
  • Children in Care and Looked-After Children
  • Neurodiversity (Autism & ADHD)
  • EBSA (Emotion Based School Avoidance)
  • SEMH, SEND and PMLD
  • Family Relationships and Parenting Support
  • Anxiety, Depression and Emotional Regulation
  • Couples Therapy
  • Grief, Bereavement and Loss
  • Systemic and Generational Trauma

It is important to note there is never any expectation to be ‘artistic’ or to ‘perform’ as the term Creative Arts Psychotherapy may imply. This title merely provides a discourse to the creative process as another way of understanding ourselves, making sense of our experiences, and discovering new possibilities for change.

I aim to provide a confidential (safeguarding compliant) and compassionate therapeutic environment where all parties can feel heard, respected, and supported. Whether you are on an individual or family based  therapeutic journey, our work together will be tailored to your individual needs and move at a pace that feels safe, collaborative and manageable.

Thank you for considering my practice. I look forward to the opportunity of supporting you on your therapeutic journey.
