About me
Accredited Psychotherapist (BACP), Relationship Counsellor and Cognitive Behavioural Therapist, with over 12 years of experience. I also hold qualifications in NLP, Medicine and Life Coaching.
My current interest is in working with adults and university students who feel they need some support to live happier and more authentic lives, free of anxiety, stress and self doubt. I work to increase self awareness, confidence and helping people get clarity around who they want to be. I also have a particular interest in love and relationships and work with many people who are unsure of their relationship, people going through a challenging time or difficult break ups.
How can I help?
I offer both face-to-face and online therapy (Skype or telephone), working from therapy centres in Jesmond.
I offer counselling to individuals and couples, delivering both intense short term and longer term therapy depending on clients needs and budgets.
Are you ready to change your life for the better? Struggling with unhelpful behaviours or thinking patterns that are holding you back? Anxious, feeling low or like you just can't think straight? Counselling is a chance to be heard in a confidential and judgement free environment. It really does change people's lives for good.
Recommendations
Sometimes the best way to find a counsellor is through a recommendation so below are some comments from recent thank you cards that I have received, used with permission:
"You have been the best thing that's happened to me, I will forever think 'what would Melissa say' Thank you for everything"
"I am so much happier now, thank you for your help and now I will let you use your magical skills on others!"
"You have given me the strength to let the past go. Just Thank You"
Choosing your counsellor is a big decision so please feel free to get in touch with any questions.

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
