About me
My name is Maxine and I am a huge people person - openly warm, refreshingly down to earth and easy to engage with. I am also hugely passionate regarding all menopausal issues for all or anyone impacted by this. This is a main area of interest for me.
"How Counselling can help"
In life we all have 'stuff' that we carry, but at times that baggage can become increasingly heavy, and difficult to comprehend, or share even with our most loved ones. Often our thoughts become so overwhelming that thinking becomes irrational, and this can lead to a really frightening and lonely place. But guess what ? It's totally okay to NOT feel okay and it's totally okay to feel sad or lost or confused or just really angry about it all ! Life can feel suffocating, challenging, debilitating, utterly exhausting and so unfair...
Together though, in a safe space, without judgement and with total acceptance, we can work together at YOUR pace to try to help YOU understand and gently begin to unpack that heavy load. Does that sound okay ?
"How we might work together"
I work in a Person Centred way, which means that therapy is directed by you, the client, after all, you are your own best expert right? I won't advise or EVER judge, but instead, view things from your perspective through your eyes, in a warm and accepting way, in order for me to properly understand your situation. In life people rarely listen...really listen, but to be truly heard can have an incredible impact. My aim is to build enough trust and respect for you to feel safe enough to work through that load. Then ultimately, for you to move towards feeling lighter, empowered and more in control. Working together essentially, can offer you the opportunity for self-growth and to become more confident about who you really are and what is right and best for you.
I offer in person counselling either short term, medium or long, dependent on each individual's needs.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have trained and worked as a Listening Volunteer with Samaritans since 2019, dealing with callers both face to face and over the telephone, where I have experienced presenting issues ranging from loneliness and low self-esteem to depression and suicidal behaviours. Callers have been inclusive of all ages from a broad spectrum of diverse backgrounds and varying social classes, ethnicities and social environments, including prisoners.
I have also worked voluntarily with a mental health charity counselling clients covering a broad scope of presenting issues - with rewarding outcomes for both the clients and myself. I do truly care. To experience any form of growth or positivity would be the desired objective for all clients.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
