About me

Hello and Welcome to CleereMinds Counselling

Free introductory session.

My name is Matthew, I am an experienced, qualified counsellor, psychologist and psychotherapist who will listen to you and hear what you are saying. I can help you gain a better understanding of your past and your present difficulties.

What happens in counselling?

Most of my therapy sessions take place at my practice in Woodford, where I have a warm and comfortable room for you to feel safe and relaxed in. Although, I do offer home visits by prior agreement.

Our first session is a short 30 minute session which will help you to decide if you want to work with me. This time will also allow me to see if I am the right counsellor for you.

Counselling is a type of talking therapy where you can talk about your problems and feelings in a confidential and safe place. As a counsellor I am trained to listen and see the world through your eyes.

I am a Person Centred counsellor which means that I am client led, so it is up to you what we talk about in our sessions. I will be guided by you and offer you the chance to explore the issues you want to with an honest, non-judgmental and empathetic therapist.

Talking to an experienced therapist may help you find the root of whatever is preventing your life from moving forward and stopping you from feeling happy. Counselling can also give you extra support in making changes.

Whatever your difficulties, I can help.

Is life getting on top of you?

Are the challenges of life too difficult?

Are the same problems repeating themselves in your life?

Do you want to make changes but aren’t quite sure how?

Have you lost someone?

If these questions sound familiar, then perhaps it is time to get some help and to make your life happier, to give you back the control you wish for.

I can help you with a variety of issues, including:
Depression
Anxiety
Bereavement,

Trauma and abuse
Depression and feelings of anger
Effects of illness
Lack of confidence/low self esteem
Long standing emotional difficulties
Redundancy and work related stress
Relationship difficulties

As well as other issues you may wish to use counselling to help

you overcome.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Terms and Duration

Therapy sessions last for 60 minutes and usually take place at the same time every week, although this can be flexible and can be more or less frequent, depending on your needs and circumstances.

FREE introductory sessions are 30 minutes long and take place at my practice. The aim of these sessions is to introduce ourselves and see if you would like to work with me.

Sessions take place at my practice in Woodford or I can visit you at home by prior arrangement (this may incur a fee for travelling).

The number of sessions needed depends on you and the problems you bring to counselling. There are no hard and fast rules with this. Some people are seeking short term work, others seek a longer term, for some a single session is all that is needed, while others may have a few sessions then wait a while to resume sessions.

We will discuss the frequency of sessions at your initial meeting when we will also consider your circumstances and expectations of therapy.

Fees

The first introductory session will be free and last for 30 minutes. During this session we will discuss your issues and if you would like to work together with me or if another type of therapy would suit you best.

Individual therapy 60 minutes session £55.

I do offer some discounts to low waged, unemployed and students.

Counselling Students; call for special offer.

Cancellation policy

If you cancel a session with less than 48 hours notice you will still be expected to pay for the session, although whenever possible I will try to offer an alternative time that suits us both.

Appointment time

My private practice is at my home in Woodford. Please do not come early for your appointment because I do not have a waiting room and may be seeing someone else. If you find that you have arrived early there are several coffee bars 2 minutes walk from my house.
