About me

Hello, I’m Martyna - an integrative counsellor based in London (Shoreditch, King's Cross, London Bridge & Victoria Park).

Grounded in Gestalt therapy and guided by relational and embodied principles, I see counselling as a collaborative process – where change, connection, and insight can emerge through presence and dialogue. Gestalt therapy places the therapeutic relationship at the heart of the process and is rooted in the belief that healing happens through authentic contact. I offer trauma-informed therapy for adults navigating life transitions, emotional challenges, and exploring questions of identity and meaning.

As a counsellor, I facilitate a welcoming space that supports awareness of moment-by-moment experience, recognising how unresolved issues show up in the here and now. I meet you as a whole person and tailor the work to your needs. Depending on what feels suitable, sessions might include simple experiments, mindfulness, or working with dreams. Whatever you bring, we’ll explore it together at your pace.

I have a special interest in breathwork, mindfulness, and embodied awareness, and enjoy exploring how breath can enhance presence and support self-regulation. I continue to develop my integrative, body-oriented approach through ongoing professional training and reflective practice. I am currently training in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, which explores physical sensations and movement in processing trauma

Alongside indoor sessions, I offer walking therapy across parks in East London. Many people find that being outdoors fosters a more equal, embodied, and spontaneous way of relating, with nature becoming part of the process.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified counsellor registered with the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy).

I trained at The Gestalt Centre in London, a leading provider of counselling and psychotherapy training.

I hold a Certificate in Humanistic Counselling and a Diploma in Gestalt Counselling, and have completed additional training in breathwork and body psychotherapy. I am currently training in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, which explores physical sensations and movement in processing trauma. I engage in ongoing supervision and continuous professional development to ensure a high quality of my work.

Alongside my private practice, I have experience working as a counsellor for charities, supporting clients with trauma, anxiety, depression and bereavement. I offer both short- and long-term therapy in English and Polish.

My background in the arts, documentary filmmaking, and community projects informs my interest in people’s stories, creativity, and diversity. I work with clients from all walks of life and hold a strong commitment to inclusive, anti-racist, and affirming practice.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Wheelchair user access
Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a Counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.

Please note that the counselling room I use in Shoreditch (E1) is accessible only by stairs. The rooms in NW1 and SE1 are accessible. Feel free to get in touch if you’d like to discuss any access needs.
