About me

Hello, I’m Marsha.

You might be coming to therapy feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or quietly struggling with something that’s hard to put into words. Perhaps things feel unmanageable, or you’ve been carrying something for a long time on your own.

I offer a calm, grounded space where you don’t have to have it all figured out. Together, we can slow things down, make sense of what’s going on for you, and begin to understand the patterns, feelings or experiences that may be shaping your life.

Clients often come to me when their relationship with food feels difficult or out of control, when emotions feel overwhelming or shut down, or when past experiences, particularly from childhood, are still having an impact in the present. With over ten years’ experience as a specialist counsellor in an NHS Tier 3 service, I’ve supported people with complex emotional relationships with food, often linked to trauma, shame, and early experiences.

Alongside this, I work with grief and loss, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem and relationship difficulties. These experiences are rarely separate, and we can take the time to gently explore how they connect for you.

I work in an integrative way, which means I adapt how I work depending on you. Some clients need space to talk and feel heard, others want to understand patterns more deeply, and some are looking for support in making changes. We can find a pace and approach that feels right for you.

Alongside private practice, I worked within EAP services, community counselling, and the University of Kent Wellbeing Team, offering both short-term and longer-term therapy.

Starting therapy can feel like a big step. You don’t need to be in crisis or have a clear “reason” just a sense that something isn’t quite right is enough.

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. You might be using GLP-1 medication or considering weight-loss surgery and noticing changes in your appetite or food thoughts. While this can bring relief, the emotional side of your relationship with food often remains.

I can support you in understanding those patterns and finding new ways to manage difficult feelings, so changes feel more sustainable over time.
