About me

Thank you for visiting my profile - I hope you will find it a useful way to answer any questions you may have and establish if you would like to come for counselling with me. Once you have read this page you may find that you would like to make an initial appointment, in which case, I would be delighted to hear from you.

I trained in counselling at the Bath Centre for Counselling & Psychotherapy (DipCouns BCPC) and have worked at Winchester University Student Counselling Service and the Dorchester Trust For Counselling & Psychotherapy. I am a Registered member of BACP, my profession’s governing  body. As well as my counselling practice, I have an interest in the environment and natural medicine.

I offer both short-term and long-term counselling to anyone aged 18 or over. I offer a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space for you to speak outside your usual circle of family, friends or colleagues. This can give you a chance to say what’s on your mind, express painful feelings or admit to confusing thoughts, helping you to cope with uncomfortable situations and to make positive change. Counselling with me can help you understand your present situation, whatever it may be, explore your past experiences and give voice to your hopes or fears for the future. If you feel that speaking about your situation or feelings might help you, I would be pleased to meet you.

I work with an awareness of people’s interconnectedness with nature in all my counselling sessions but I also offer a more focused approach to working with nature through my interest in Eco-psychology. If you feel that you would like to focus on your relationship with the rest of the natural world and how to better connect to and sustain it, then I would be happy to meet with you and begin to explore how you can develop your care for the earth, as well as your own sense of health and well-being.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a Foundation Certificate in Counselling and Psychotherapy and a Diploma in Humanistic and Integrative Counselling from the Bath Centre for Psychotherapy and Counselling (BCPC). I have undertaken further training in Ecopsychology and Nature Based Practice with Failand Training and Re-Vision. I am a Registered Member of BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and am bound by their Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy.

I have experience of a University Counselling Service and a low-cost Counselling Agency as well as in private practice.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
