About me
Hi, my name is Marina, and I am a Gestalt Counsellor (MBACP) and a Chartered Psychologist (BPS) working at different locations across London, including South West (Clapham), South East (Crystal Palace), central London (St Pancras) and online.
I work with individuals and couples.
The idea of starting therapy can be daunting and finding the right therapist can feel bewildering, especially in moments of fragility and vulnerability. In addition to that, while some clients have a precise idea of what they want to work on, others are not clear about what it is that is not working. In both cases therapy can be a space to set some dedicated time aside with a professional to find perspective and clarity.
As a Gestalt trained therapist I focus on the present moment, informed by past experiences and the expectations for the future, encouraging creativity, ‘response-ability’ and body-mind wholeness.
In individual therapy I am interested in the dialogical (verbal and non-verbal) encounter between you and I and I am curious about how we relate to each other and how this relationship can support your personal discovery and growth.
In couples therapy I aim to facilitate contact between you and your partner and encourage through experimentation new ways to relate to each other.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am originally from Rome where I have trained and qualified as a Clinical Psychologist and Psychotherapist, specialising in Health Psychology. I have lived in different Countries and worked in a number of fields before coming back to my original passion, that is working alongside people to promote their potentials and support them in fully embracing their lives.
In the UK I have trained and qualified as a Gestalt Counsellor, integrating my past experiences and studies in a way that feels enriching, whole and supportive in my work with clients.
I have experience in delivering counselling in a variety of services, including the NHS, where I am currently volunteering and where I have supported clients with a range of issues, including depression, anxiety, trauma and general feeling of stuck-ness.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
