About me
Hello, I’m Marie-Lou, an accredited-Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) & EMDR Psychotherapist.
Reaching out for therapy can feel like a big step. You may have been trying to manage things on your own for a long time - feeling anxious, overwhelmed, stuck in self-doubt, or affected by experiences that still feel difficult to move past.
Perhaps your thoughts tend to spiral, you find yourself replaying situations long after they’ve happened, or your confidence has been quietly worn down over time.
People often come to see me when they feel stuck in patterns of anxiety, overthinking, low self-esteem, or when past experiences continue to affect how they feel in the present.
Many of the people I work with are thoughtful, capable individuals who have spent a long time trying to manage things on their own before deciding to seek support.
My aim is to offer a calm, compassionate space where you can speak openly & feel genuinely heard. From our first meeting, we work collaboratively to understand what may be keeping you stuck & begin finding ways forward that feel meaningful and achievable for you.
Therapy should feel purposeful & worthwhile - not simply a place to talk, but a space where you can build insight, develop practical tools & begin creating lasting change. Together we work towards helping you feel calmer, more confident in yourself, and able to respond to challenges without feeling overwhelmed by them.
If you feel that therapy may be helpful, you are very welcome to get in touch for a free, no obligation 30-minute consultation, where we can gently explore what has been going on for you & whether working together feels like the right fit.

What do therapy sessions look like?
Therapy sessions vary depending on your needs, the stage of therapy & the therapeutic approach used. They usually take place on a weekly basis, but they typically follow a four‑stage structure.
- Stage 1 - Information gathering, assessment & symptom mapping to help establish a collaborative understanding of your symptoms.
- Stage 2 - Active treatment using the chosen modality - such as CBT, trauma‑focused CBT, or EMDR.
*Duringage 2, we’ll have regular reviews to ensure the approach stays aligned with your goals, the techniques are helping & the pace feels right for you* - Stage 3 - Once symptoms begin to improve, the work shifts toward reclaiming your life, strengthening new skills & building long‑term resilience.
- Stage 4 - Planned ending & development of a personalised blueprint to support your wellbeing beyond sessions.
If you have further questions, these can be discussed in a free, no-obligation 30-minute consultation.
