About me

If you are considering how therapy can support you through challenging life events, I am here to help by offering a safe and confidential space in which you can begin to examine what may feel impossible right now to resolve by yourself; without fear of being judged and maybe experience for the first time a real feeling of being heard.  I work by supporting you to explore your thoughts, emotions and life story so far, with the aim of both of us understanding and together making sense of the difficulties you are experiencing.  Together, we will then seek a way of helping you find the answers that truly do lie within you.

I have experience of working with clients on issues such as depression and low mood, anxiety, loss and bereavement, low self esteem, anger management, abuse, relationship difficulties, work related issues, addiction, exam stress, child and adolescent issues, adoption and fostering, health issues, personal development and general counselling.

I'm not your typical therapist. I'm approachable and curious about life.  I believe that therapy should reach into your soul, make you feel heard and support the changes you want to make. I don't believe that therapy should be a sterile or isolating experience. I want you to be comfortable, safe enough to be vulnerable in order to recognise your strengths for personal positive growth.

As a supervisor, my aim is to build healthy and productive relationships with Supervisees, to allow them the space to be open and encourage them to explore their therapeutic relationships and provide the best possible service to their clients.  I am keen to emphasis that looking after my supervisees wellbeing and that of their clients is of upmost importance by working ethically and safely.

Choosing a new supervisor can be tricky.  We build great relationships with amazing supervisors then maybe circumstances change and we need to find someone else.  Perhaps you are looking for a supervisor for the very first time.  I will always offer a consultation to talk things through, to get a better sense of what I can offer to you, before we work together.

Supervision available in person, via video link or phone.

I offer a free 15 minute consultation to all clients  considering therapy. It enables both the client and myself to understand more about each other and how we can work positively together.  I can be reached by email, telephone or text.  All my details are listed.  I look forward to hearing from you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a professionally qualified  Therapeutic Counsellor and Supervisor registered with the BACP.  I practice using an integrative approach to ensure I meet my client's individual needs.  In a nutshell, this means I use various tools from different modalities without our client sessions that suit you.  If you are interested, these are Person Centred, Psychodynamic and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.  I'm also fond of Jungian theory - a way of looking at our real self.  If you'd like to know more, I can explain more when we talk.

I have worked with clients ranging from 11 - 80 years plus.  Every client has their own story and a way of telling it, in their own time.  Every single client is unique and I feel privileged to support them by building a therapeutic relationship developed through trust and respect.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
