About me

I am a person-centred counsellor and I believe deeply in the power of a warm, empathic, trusting, collaborative and confidential relationship in helping us to live more fully.

I aim to offer an environment where you feel heard, accepted, safe and supported as you come to a fuller understanding of what hurts and seek to make your way towards a greater sense of well-being (however you define this for yourself). Sessions are therefore guided by you and what you want to talk about. From here, we can work together to find a way forward in the ways that feel right for you.

I have worked with a broad range of issues, with those who have felt overwhelmed, lost, hurt and confused often in relation to painful or traumatic life experiences, such as bereavements or other life events that have had a lasting impact.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a Post Graduate Diploma (Level 7) in Counselling and Psychotherapy and I am a registered member of BACP. I have worked with various charitable organisations including two local Mind counselling services and I have a broad range of experience with issues such as loss, grief and bereavement, trauma and abuse, relationship difficulties, anxiety and depression.

I have also offered counselling within a secondary school working with young people.

Prior to my counselling training I worked with rurally isolated older adults assisting them to access services. Here, I witnessed the profound loneliness and the many challenges that can be experienced as a part of the ageing process.

In what feels like another life, I worked in the equestrian industry as a groom and horse rider and have a BSc(Hons) in Equine Sports Science. I continue to have a love for animals and the outdoors.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
