About me

Welcome to my profile,

Thank you for taking time to read about me.  My name is Marek Dvonc and I am registered and BACP accredited Integrative Counsellor & Psychotherapist.  I completed Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling in 2012, Diploma in CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) 2016 and Diploma in Trauma 2018.  Practicing over ten years, I have developed various ways of working therapeutically with a wide range of difficulties my clients find challenging to manage.  

​​​​I commenced therapeutic work with adults in 2011-13 at the Centre for Better Health, counselling children in 2013 at the Place2be, and adults at Richmond Borough Mind in 2015-21.  Presently, I work in private practice since 2017. My therapeutic work is different from other practitioners as each therapist has their unique way of working.  I am here to support you with your challenges and look for ways of making them manageable.  

We will explore their origin and impact they have on you now.  Sometimes, I might invite you to do a homework in between the sessions, that would enable us to gain deeper understanding of certain difficulties and how you can learn to manage them.  I see therapy as a collaborative process in which both of us will be working together in a confidential and non-judgemental place towards anything you would like to work through until you feel empowered and content with the work we have done.   

Therapy is very individual and therefore you are a person who can choose a therapist you feel most comfortable with.  

How do I work?

Therapeutic work varies, which means, that one approach may not be suitable for everyone.  All of our needs differ from one another and therefore one approach may help some people more than others.  I tailor my Integrative approach of working to your individual needs and wants you would like to work on in therapy right from the beginning.  First and foremost, we need to outline the difficulties you find challenging and then we will explore their origin and impact they cause you for our further therapeutic work ahead.  This of course requires a meticulous assessment of your challenges we would be able to go through more in-depth in the initial consultation and monitor progress as any drawbacks throughout the course of therapy.

I also offer CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), which I use with individuals who would like to understand their behaviours and negative thoughts, that are holding them back from moving on in their lives.  Working collaboratively, we would be able to explore different areas of your life you have been finding difficult to manage.  Perhaps, this might be still affecting you now, (in adulthood), and you are finding it impossible to voice yourself or be able to do things because you can not see way out of your predicament.  One of the obstacles are, "Negative thoughts", we would be able to look at more closely to get a better sense of what might be happening for you in different situations as to what may be holding you back when you need to express your needs or simply feel good about yourself in whatever situation you find yourself in.

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.


British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
