About me

Hello, and a very warm welcome.

I am a Reg.MBACP (Accred) counsellor/psychotherapist & clinical supervisor. My core training was in Humanistic Gestalt Counselling at the highly respected Gestalt Centre in London. I work with a ‘here and now’ focus and support my clients to compassionately bring healing to the source of their suffering. I believe we are all creative beings, with the power to manifest our passions, life-purpose and to live as our authentic selves.

Alongside my therapy practice I offer supervision to counsellors /psychotherapists and those involved in the healing professions. I have a particular interest in meditations, sexuality, shamanism, trauma and spiritual philosophies, which inspire my working practice.

Therapy Works

I believe we come into the world as perfect and unique human beings and at stressful or traumatic times during our lives we may lose our sense of  'self’.  Therapy can give a helping hand to re-discover our uniqueness, get back to a sense of who we truly are, and to soften the impact of what caused us pain.

Recently I have organised shamanic healing retreats in South America with a gifted medicine woman, as well as working with numerous shamans and traditional healers. My passion is in finding out how we can bridge the traditional/ancient healing techniques with western therapy for our modern society.

What I’ve come to realise most with my international client groups and world travel, is that there is a universal need for connection, a sense of belonging, purpose and the need for community. Who I am -Who I love - What I do, and with whom I choose to do it with.

Starting Therapy

Starting therapy is a big step and shows real courage. This can be a life-altering step, if you choose it to be. The work is brief-focused or ongoing.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information

I spend my time mostly between Edinburgh - London and travelling. If I am unable to see you in person I offer online and phone therapy. This may not appeal to everyone's needs, however, the feedback I get from clients is that it is effective and works well for them. In some cases, they prefer it due to ease and practical convenience

Acclaimed author and renowned psychiatrist Irvin D. Yalom has acknowledged  "The Evolution of Therapy” and the role of technology in the future of psychotherapy.
