About me
Maggie is a senior Family and Couple Psychotherapist. She is also a senior lecturer at King's College London.
Maggie practices privately in North London, working with a comprehensive range of difficulties, such as anxiety, depression, or with couples who are stuck in unhelpful, angry, or withdrawn patterns of communication. She also has a specialism in working with families and couples with neurodiverse members.
Training, qualifications & experience
Maggie trained at the Tavistock Centre in the late 1990s, where she obtained a distinction. She also has further training in mentalisation-based and emotionally focused couples therapy.
She has twenty-five years experience working in the field, including child and family mental health services in the NHS. She is fully professionally insured and operates within the codes of practice laid out by the professional registering bodies AFST and UKCP.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
Maggie also specialises in work with adult children and their parents, where there is a wish to repair difficulties originating during earlier periods in the family's life. (Perhaps due to divorce or other strains on the family).
Maggie also has experience of working with LGBTQ families and couples with a range of relational and other difficulties. She has worked with them to promote resilience and navigate the extra complexity of living in our society with its heteronormative norms.
