About me
I have extensive experience supporting children and teenagers in schools, charities and private practice. To accompany children through different stages of development, as they navigate loss, uncertainty and challenges, is a privilege. I value seeing each person within the unique context of their family, social environment and culture. I also recognise the importance of acknowledging these experiences and looking for opportunities for growth and resilience within them.
Originally from Poland, I moved to London over 20 years ago. This experience allows me to feel grounded in my day-to-day life in my adopted home, while also understanding the lived experience of change, including both the gains and losses it can bring.
I trained at Goldsmiths, University of London and hold a degree in Art Psychotherapy (MA). I am registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and I am a fully accredited member of the British Association of Art Therapists (BAAT).
Issues/concerns that I can help with include:
- Anxiety (included but not limited to exams and or school performance, social anxiety and peer related pressures)
- Self-esteem
- Emotional regulation
- Low confidence
- Friendship difficulties
- Navigating changes at home and school for example parental separation, illness of a family member, moving school/s
- Bereavement and loss
How does Art Therapy work?
In art therapy I offer children and teenagers an opportunity to use art materials as a way to articulate and begin to process things that might be troubling them. Teenagers and or older children are also welcome to talk if this would be a preferred way of communication for them. At the heart of Art Therapy lies the development of a trusting and meaningful relationship between myself and my young clients. In art therapy clients are offered opportunity to:
- explore and process their experiences
- develop a better understanding of themselves
- become more able to cope and/or deal with challenges they encounter
- enjoy more positive and fulfilling relationships
Each child and young person works at their own pace within a confidential and nurturing environment.
In addition, I offer consultations to parents to allow space to explore their understanding of their child's emotional needs and to reflect on their responses to these. This can open opportunities to co-create practical ways of supporting communication at home.
My work is informed by child development, attachment theory and many years of working with children and families within the private, charity and school settings.
Getting in Touch
If you are concerned about your child or teenager, or wondering whether art therapy might help, you are welcome to get in touch via email for an initial parent consultation. We can talk about what you have been noticing and consider together whether this support would be helpful. If you are unsure whether therapy is the right step, we can simply think together about what might best support your child.
