About me

Taking the first step towards counselling can feel daunting, particularly when you're unsure where to begin or how to put your feelings into words. Whether you're experiencing anxiety, low mood, stress, difficulties in your relationships, or simply feeling overwhelmed by life's challenges, counselling can offer a space to pause, reflect and better understand yourself.

I'm Madiyah, a qualified Level 7 Integrative Counsellor and registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I offer a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences openly, at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

How I Can Support You

I work with individuals aged 16 and over, supporting a range of emotional and psychological difficulties, including:

  • Anxiety, excessive worry and overthinking
  • Depression and low mood
  • Stress, burnout and work-related pressures
  • Low self-esteem, confidence and self-worth
  • Relationship and family difficulties
  • Loss, grief and bereavement
  • Trauma and difficult life experiences
  • Suicidal thoughts and emotional distress
  • Identity and self-exploration
  • Life transitions and periods of uncertainty
  • Loneliness, isolation and emotional overwhelm

You don't need to have a specific diagnosis or know exactly what you want to work on. Sometimes, simply having a safe and supportive space to make sense of what you're experiencing can be an important starting point.

My Therapeutic Approach

As an integrative counsellor, I recognise that everyone is different, and there is no single approach that works for everybody. I draw upon Person-Centred Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion-Focused approaches and Solution-Focused Therapy, adapting our work to your individual needs and goals.

Our sessions may involve exploring past experiences, understanding patterns in your thoughts and emotions, developing healthier coping strategies, or finding new ways to respond to life's challenges. Through Solution-Focused Therapy, we may also explore your existing strengths, identify what is already working well and consider small, achievable steps towards the changes you would like to make.

I believe that a strong therapeutic relationship is central to meaningful change. My approach is collaborative, empathetic and respectful, allowing us to work together towards greater self-awareness, emotional wellbeing and personal growth.

Online Counselling

I offer confidential online counselling sessions, allowing you to access support from the comfort and privacy of your own space. Online therapy provides flexibility while maintaining a professional and supportive therapeutic environment.

Whether you're seeking support with a particular difficulty or hoping to develop a deeper understanding of yourself, I aim to provide a space where you feel heard, understood and supported.

Taking the First Step

Finding the right counsellor is an important part of the therapeutic process. If you feel my approach may be right for you, you're welcome to get in touch to discuss what you're looking for and how we might work together.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified Level 7 Integrative Counsellor with an academic background in Psychology and Counselling, holding a postgraduate qualification from Leeds Beckett University. I am also a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and practise in accordance with their Ethical Framework.

During my postgraduate studies, I was awarded The Dean's Prize for Academic Excellence in Psychological Therapies & Mental Health (PG) at Leeds Beckett University, in recognition of outstanding academic achievement.

My clinical experience includes providing therapeutic support to individuals from diverse backgrounds, presenting with a range of difficulties including anxiety, depression, stress, low self-esteem, relationship challenges, trauma, emotional distress and suicidal ideation. I have experience working with varying levels of risk and adapting my therapeutic approach to individual client needs.

My integrative training draws upon several therapeutic approaches, including:

  • Person-Centred Therapy
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Compassion-Focused approaches
  • Solution-Focused Therapy
  • Psychodynamic principles

I am committed to ongoing professional development, regular clinical supervision and maintaining high standards of ethical and professional practice. My aim is to provide a safe, supportive and collaborative therapeutic environment where clients feel understood and empowered to work towards meaningful change.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
