About me
Hello, I'm Madeleine, an integrative counsellor and registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
Reaching out for counselling can feel like a big step, especially if you have been coping on your own for a while. You might be feeling anxious, low, overwhelmed or stuck. Sometimes there is a clear reason for this, and sometimes there is simply a sense that life feels heavier than it should.
I offer a warm, confidential and empathic space where you can talk openly, without fear of judgment. My aim is to help you feel heard, understood and supported as we explore what difficulties brought you to seek support.
I work as an integrative counsellor, which means I draw on different therapeutic approaches depending on your needs. I tailor our work to suit you as an individual and move at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
I see therapy as a collaborative process. You are the expert on your own life, and my role is to walk alongside you while you make sense of what you are experiencing and develop greater self-awareness, clarity, healing and resilience.
Areas I Can Help With
People come to counselling for many different reasons. I often work with clients who are experiencing:
- Anxiety and overthinking (GAD)
- Depression or low mood
- Mood difficulties
- Low self-esteem or lack of confidence
- Grief and loss
- Relationship difficulties
- Feeling overwhelmed or stuck
- Intrusive or distressing thoughts
- Suicidal thoughts
- Life transitions or difficult experiences
You don't need to be in crisis to seek counselling. Many people come simply because they want space to talk, reflect and better understand themselves.
Getting in Touch
Starting counselling can feel daunting, but you don't have to face things alone. If you feel ready to take the next step, you are welcome to get in touch for an initial conversation. This is an opportunity to ask any questions and see whether working together feels right for you. There is no pressure or obligation.

school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society This Not For Profit association of counsellors and psychotherapists aim to support the counselling profession, members and training organisations. In 2013 the NCS register was accredited by the Professional Standards Authority under the Accredited Voluntary Register Scheme. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
