About me

I'm Maciek, a therapist based in Central London and Surrey, where I offer both face-to-face and online sessions.

I understand that taking the first step towards therapy can feel daunting, and I believe finding the right therapist is an important part of that journey. My aim is to provide a warm, supportive and non-judgemental space where you feel safe to explore whatever has brought you to counselling.

Although I trained integratively, my practice is primarily informed by psychodynamic and relational therapy. I believe we develop our sense of self through our relationships with others. From our earliest experiences with family and caregivers to our relationships with partners, friends and colleagues, these connections shape how we see ourselves, relate to others and navigate life's challenges.

I believe that many of life's difficulties arise within relationships, and that healing can also happen through relationships. The therapeutic relationship offers a safe, collaborative space where we can explore your experiences, better understand the patterns that shape your life, and work towards meaningful and lasting change.

Every person comes to therapy with their own unique experiences, so I tailor my approach to your individual needs rather than following a fixed formula.

I see therapy as a collaborative process, where we work together to make sense of what is happening in your life. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, loss, or feeling stuck, therapy offers an opportunity to slow down, reflect and gain a deeper understanding of yourself.

Our work may explore current challenges as well as earlier experiences that continue to influence your thoughts, emotions and relationships today. By recognising recurring patterns, we can begin to understand where they come from and consider new ways of responding.

Alongside listening with empathy and compassion, I will ask thoughtful questions and, where appropriate, gently challenge the patterns or beliefs I notice. My role is not to tell you what to do, but to help you develop greater self-awareness, strengthen your sense of self and support you in making meaningful, lasting changes.

I offer both short-term and longer-term face-to-face and online therapy, working at a pace that feels right for you. My hope is that you will feel heard, understood and supported throughout our work together.

Training, qualifications & experience

I graduated from the University of East London with a First Class Honours degree in Counselling.

I trained as an integrative counsellor, drawing on different therapeutic approaches according to the individual needs of each client. My practice is primarily informed by psychodynamic and relational therapy, which considers how our earlier experiences and relationships may continue to influence our thoughts, emotions, behaviours and relationships in the present.

I have experience providing therapy through NHS Talking Therapies. In this role, I worked with adults experiencing anxiety, depression and a range of complex emotional and psychological difficulties.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

I currently have regular availability on Mondays. Appointments at other times are limited to afternoons and evenings. Please get in touch if you would like to discuss availability, and I'll do my best to find a suitable appointment.

I offer an initial 30-minute online consultation for a fee of £10. This first session gives us an opportunity to get to know each other, discuss what has brought you to therapy and explore what you hope to gain from counselling.

It's also a chance for you to ask any questions about how I work and decide whether you feel I'm the right therapist for you. There is no obligation to continue after this session and it's important that you feel comfortable and confident in your choice of therapist.
