About me
Hello, I'm Lydia.
I am a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist working with adults, young people, and children. My practice is grounded in person-centred therapy, with the flexibility to integrate compassion-focused therapy and trauma-responsive mindfulness where appropriate. I am committed to ensuring all my work is neurodiversity-affirming by recognising and valuing the unique ways people experience and engage with the world.
I support clients with a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, low mood, stress, bereavement and loss, trauma, self-esteem difficulties, relationship challenges, life transitions, and identity-related issues. Whether you are facing a specific difficulty or seeking greater self-understanding, I offer a space to explore your experiences at your own pace.
Many people spend much of their lives masking parts of themselves to fit in, feel safe, or meet others' expectations. I am committed to creating a therapeutic space where you can leave that mask at the door and be yourself. Together, we can work towards greater self-awareness, self-acceptance, and a deeper understanding of what matters most to you.
At the heart of my practice is the belief that a strong therapeutic relationship is integral to meaningful and lasting change. I will meet you where you are, with warmth, compassion, and without judgement. My priority is creating an environment where you feel genuinely heard, understood, and accepted.
Finding the right counsellor is important. I offer a free 15-minute introductory phone call so that you can get a sense of how I work, ask any questions you may have, and decide whether you feel comfortable taking the next step.
I have a particular interest in supporting neurodivergent clients, including those exploring or adjusting to an ADHD or autism diagnosis.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Additional information
I believe counselling should be as accessible as possible. My standard fee is £60 per session, but I offer a sliding scale for students and those experiencing financial difficulties. We can talk about this during our introductory call and agree on a fee that feels manageable, where possible.
Further information
Creativity is an important part of how I work. I understand that not everyone finds it easy to communicate through words alone, and that traditional talking therapy isn't always the right fit for everyone. I encourage my clients to explore and express themselves in ways that feel authentic, comfortable, and accessible to them.
My work is always client-led and rooted in person-centred values, while drawing on specialist training in trauma-responsive mindfulness, compassion-focused therapy, and expressive approaches. Whether through conversation, reflection, creativity, or mindful exploration, I aim to create a space where you can deepen your self-understanding, reconnect with your strengths, and explore what matters most to you at your own pace.
