About me
Hi, my name is Lydia and thank you for viewing my page. Choosing the right counsellor is an important and deeply personal decision. I offer a calm, compassionate, and non-judgemental space where you can feel seen, heard, and supported — whatever you’re going through.
Here’s what you can expect when working with me:
- Experience and expertise: Over 9 years’ experience supporting adults, children, and families through a wide range of emotional and psychological challenges.
- Specialist trauma support: Extensive training and hands-on experience in working with trauma, including sexual abuse, rape, domestic abuse, and the impact of family breakdowns.
- Creative and flexible approach: I integrate creative methods — such as play, art, and storytelling — to help clients express emotions that may be difficult to put into words, especially for children and young people.
Warm and person-centred care: I believe that genuine empathy, respect, and trust form the foundation for change and healing. - Holistic understanding: Drawing on my background in holistic therapies and mental health first aid, I take into account the emotional, physical, and spiritual aspects of wellbeing.
- Support for all ages: I work with children aged 5 and above, adults, and families, adapting my approach to suit each individual’s needs.
I’m here to help you process what’s happened, rebuild your sense of self, and move towards a more balanced and fulfilling life.
I have held various person-centred, client-facing roles across several charities in Doncaster. I offer a professional and confidential service within a respectful and non-judgemental space, where you can explore your concerns safely. I provide online and telephone counselling sessions, allowing me to support clients both locally and internationally.
💛 How I Can Help
Life can feel overwhelming at times, and you may be struggling to make sense of what you’re feeling or how to move forward. You might be:
- Feeling anxious, low, or emotionally exhausted, and unsure how to regain balance.
- Experiencing depression or a sense of emptiness that makes everyday life difficult.
- Struggling with the effects of trauma, abuse, or neglect, either from childhood or recent experiences.
- Trying to cope after sexual abuse, rape, or domestic abuse, and finding it hard to trust or feel safe again.
- Facing family breakdown, divorce, or conflict at home, and wanting support for yourself or your children.
- Supporting a child who is withdrawn, anxious, angry, or struggling to express emotions.
- Living with neurodivergence (such as ADHD, ODD or autism) or caring for someone who is, and feeling misunderstood or overwhelmed.
Grieving the loss of someone close, or finding it difficult to adjust after bereavement. - Feeling stressed, burnt out, or disconnected from yourself and others.
Living with low self-esteem, anger, or shame that affects your relationships and sense of identity. - Concerned about self-harm, suicidal thoughts, or the impact these issues have on your family.
- Struggling with eating issues, substance use, or other coping behaviours that feel out of control.
- Whatever has brought you here, you don’t have to face it alone. Together, we can explore your experiences safely and at your own pace. My role is to help you make sense of what’s happening, reconnect with your strengths, and find a way forward that feels right for you.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
