About me
Welcome. I'm an integrative counsellor based in Gwynedd, North Wales, working with individuals navigating some of life's more difficult terrain: anxiety, depression, grief, burnout, relationship difficulties, low self-worth, and times of crisis. I work with adults both via videocall and telephone.
My background spans NHS primary care, charitable organisations, and corporate settings. I have also published research in wellbeing science, exploring individual, social, and ecological wellbeing, and have helped develop resilience training programmes for trainee clinicians entering the NHS.
My approach is integrative and client-led, which in practice means you set the direction. We can explore what's happening in the present, make sense of patterns rooted in the past, or work toward something you want for the future, at a pace that feels right for you. I draw on psychodynamic ideas, Transactional Analysis, and parts work, which offer ways of understanding the different voices and patterns within us, and of building greater self-awareness, self-compassion, and freedom of choice. Above all, I aim to offer a space that feels genuinely safe, built on honesty, warmth, and respect for your experience. Taking that first step can feel daunting. I'll do my best to make it straightforward.
"I’ve had a few counselling sessions with Luke and I can honestly say he has been incredibly helpful. He creates such a safe, calm space where I feel genuinely heard and understood. His guidance has given me clarity and practical tools that I’ve already started applying in my life. I’ve noticed a real difference in how I manage my thoughts and emotions since working with him. I’m really grateful for his support and would highly recommend him to anyone looking for compassionate and insightful counselling." - Nina
"Thanks very much to Luke for his patience and understanding and friendly manner. It has been a great help in a stressful, difficult period and I wouldn't have got through it without him. Would recommend him and the service to anyone." - Anonymous

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society This Not For Profit association of counsellors and psychotherapists aim to support the counselling profession, members and training organisations. In 2013 the NCS register was accredited by the Professional Standards Authority under the Accredited Voluntary Register Scheme. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
