HCPC registered Art Psychotherapist

About me

Hello, I'm Lucy, an experienced, HCPC registered Art Psychotherapist.

I offer art therapy in the Corsham and Bath area for children, young people, and young adults.

Are you worried about your child or young person? Perhaps they are experiencing anxiety, low mood or low self-esteem? I am a kind, warm and non-judgemental art therapist, skilled at building relationships with young people. I help children and young people to feel at ease so that they can bring their true selves to therapy and feel valued for who they are. I am skilled in facilitating conversations with young people and supporting them to express their feelings, both through talking and art making. I support young people to make sense of their feelings and develop their capacity to regulate their emotions. Through my work, I see children and young people grow in confidence, increase their self-esteem and process traumatic experiences.

Forming a meaningful therapeutic relationship is at the heart of my work. My approach is integrative; this means that my work is informed by a range of theoretical approaches. I draw on theories including attachment theory, psychodynamic and person-centred approaches. I work in a trauma informed way. I am experienced in safeguarding and this is integral to the way that I work.

Further information

What is art therapy?

Art therapy is an established form of psychotherapy, delivered by trained art therapists (also known as art psychotherapists). Art therapy uses art as the primary mode of expression, alongside talking with an art therapist. It aims to reduce distress and improve social, emotional, and mental health by promoting insight, self-compassion, and a sense of agency and self-worth.

During art therapy, you are supported by an art therapist to use art to express and articulate often complex thoughts and feelings through art making. This may be following difficult or traumatic experiences, which may be hard to talk about.

Art therapy can help people of all ages and at all stages of life, including those whose life has been affected by difficult personal or cultural experiences, illness, and/or disability. You do not need to be skilled in art to benefit from art therapy.
