About me
Hi, I’m Lucy and thank you for reading my page.
Sometimes we can find ourselves in troubling and distressing times, not knowing how to find our way out. It can be much easier and achievable when shared with someone who can support and guide you through it.
It can feel very lonely and isolating, often a place you never expected to find yourself in and living through. Finding a way out and some peace can feel like an impossible task. You feel that no one can understand you and how you feel and definitely wouldn’t want to listen to you. Does this sound like you? I know that I’ve felt like this. Being able to talk to someone in a non-judgemental environment that gets and understands you can be a massive relief. To know that you’re not alone and have the support of an experienced qualified counsellor is a great support and help with working through your worries, concerns and nightmares.
As an experienced person-centred counsellor, I can help you to explore and work through your thoughts and feelings, however difficult. I provide a space that enables us to work together to allow you to learn about yourself and the way you deal with life and experiences. Learning new tools and coping mechanisms to use in the future.
One of my skills is the ability to put you at ease and make you feel comfortable, this helps you in opening up and sharing those thoughts and feelings that you have sat on and kept hidden. I get how important it is to feel comfortable with your counsellor and know that you can trust them. My sessions are always client-centred, adapting my style and using techniques to best suit you. This can also include grounding and relaxation techniques.
Training, qualifications & experience
I hold a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and work as a person-centred counsellor. I’m also a member of BACP.
I have experience of working with clients who have various difficulties such as addictions, self-harm, relationships, homelessness, debt, eating disorders, health issues, physical abuse, mental abuse, trauma, family issues and bereavement.
I have volunteered with a crisis helpline and for a charity counselling service.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
