About me

I am dedicated to providing exceptional therapeutic support and art therapy to children (6+) and adults, including those with autism, learning difficulties and disabilities (LDD). As a counsellor and art psychotherapist I have extensive experience and training ensuring a compassionate, professional, and effective approach.

Since 2003 I have worked with young adults with autism, learning difficulties and disabilities including in mental health. Since 2019 I have further specialised in working with ASD and LDD to offer this service to my clients. I work in integrative ways which means I draw from many different approaches for instance Psychodynamic approach or Person Centred. I may incorporate techniques such as art therapy, approaching to meet the needs of each client. I currently run my own private practice offering sessions in person or online.

I like to support children, adolescents and adults which includes high functioning autism, moderate learning difficulties or disabilities. Difficulties in anxiety, relationships and recovery can be explored. As we all experience emotions we need support by talking, expressing feelings or to share with someone.

I work with the understanding that unclear emotional conflict, whether it is rooted from the past or any present difficulty can manifest towards stress, anxiety or depression. Leading on to being prone to low self-esteem, shame, patterns in relationships or wanting an understanding of a true sense of self.

In my practice I aim to develop a safe, warm and trusting environment, without any judgement of what you want to share or express. You can begin to feel secure in our relationship and to share with me.

Once the initial building of trust has developed, this allows for more depth of understanding, exploring and further trust. I believe that in active listening, understanding and connecting to what you are feeling, this can support you.

Theories have influenced my approach to counselling in how exploring our earliest relationships and how they affect us in adult life lead to relationship difficulties. This may include links to your past and the current patterns of behaviour.

Through our sessions, I will support you to develop coping strategies with a greater sense of self, freedom and finding positive ways for you to live your life.

In sessions I can offer meditations or breathing techniques to help centre yourself and support your self-regulation.

Most recent work: NHS Foundation Trust Children’s service. Mind in Kingston.
