About me

Wishing You a Warm Welcome

My name is Lucinda, and I am a nurturing, compassionate, and inclusive counsellor, specialising in working with children and young people aged 8-18.

I also work with parents and carers. I understand that holding space for family dynamics can take a lot of energy. My sessions create a gentle pause, a moment for self-care, reflection, and processing experiences, while allowing space to prioritise emotional wellbeing.

Since 2009, I have worked with children, young people, and their families across various educational settings. For the past nine years, I have been a qualified person-centred therapist in a boarding school. I understand the specific challenges children and young people face and offer a dynamic, holistic approach that is developmentally and age-appropriate, tailored to individual needs.

Therapeutic Modalities I Offer

Rooted in a person-centred ethos, I am trained and skilled in the following approaches:

Creative Therapy

Using art and natural materials to facilitate expression beyond the spoken word.

Walk and Talk

Sessions that take place during beautiful walks within the grounds.

ELSA

Supporting emotional intelligence by teaching emotional literacy through creativity.

The Human Toolbox

A neuroscience-based emotional literacy programme designed to help children manage big feelings and create positive change.

Yoga and Mindfulness

Practices to regulate emotions, soothe the nervous system, and support restful sleep.

Counselling Approach

I believe in the importance of being professional while remaining authentic, this balance is central to my practice. The foundation of counselling lies in the therapeutic relationship. I understand that expressing oneself can feel daunting for a child or young person. My warm and friendly manner helps ease that pressure. I create and model a trusting environment where young people can naturally express themselves, build resilience, heal, and grow stronger emotional roots to truly thrive.

I work holistically with a child-centred approach. While I do not believe in quick fixes, I am passionate about nurturing young minds, fostering healing, developing self-awareness, enhancing emotional literacy, sharing knowledge, teaching practical tools, and empowering young people to apply these in everyday life.

Support for Families and Schools

I also work with parents, carers, and schools to provide guidance, resources, skills, and signposting to support children both at home and in school.

Personal Insight and Neurodiversity

I was awarded a First-Class Honours in my Person-Centred Counselling degree. I also have a diagnosis of dyslexia, which I embrace as my superpower, fuelling my creativity and unique perspective. However, I understand that embracing a diagnosis can be a deeply personal journey that requires care and nurturing.

It’s important for children and young people to have the space to reflect, feel seen and valued, and make sense of their way of being. Especially while navigating school, exams, peer relationships, family dynamics, technology, and social media, along with all the challenges that young people face today.

I have extensive experience working with children and young people with diagnoses, dual diagnoses, and working diagnoses of neurodiversity.

I value all human life equally, and this belief lies at the heart of my practice.

Confidentiality

Counselling provides a safe and supportive space that is private, but not secret. I offer a clear confidentiality agreement in the first session, fostering trust and giving children and young people autonomy and a sense of security.

If this resonates with you, I’d welcome hearing from you

I offer a free 15-minute initial call to answer any questions you may have. I warmly invite you to reach out to me here.

Kindest wishes,
Lucinda

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
