About me
Louise Higgins – Trauma-Informed Counsellor
Confidential support for adults, seniors & young people (11+)
Hi, I’m Louise – a qualified counsellor offering a warm, private space to talk. I work with adults and young people from age 11, helping with anxiety, low mood, stress, identity issues, grief, trauma, and more.
You might know what’s troubling you, or you might just feel overwhelmed or stuck without a clear reason. Either way, counselling can help make sense of what’s going on. Together, we’ll explore your thoughts and feelings so you can better understand yourself, feel more in control, and move forward with confidence.
I offer a calm, non-judgemental space where you can be heard and understood. I’ll support you with kindness and honesty, helping you build stronger self-esteem and relationships.
Counselling for Young People (11+)
Life as a young person can be intense and confusing. I’ve worked with many young clients facing things like school pressure, low confidence, self-harm, suicidal thoughts, identity, anxiety, and loss.
Every session is adapted to suit the individual—whether that’s talking, creative activities, or practical tools. My approach helps young people feel safe, understood, and supported to grow in confidence and self-awareness.
Confidentiality is key to building trust. If there’s ever a safety concern, I’ll act sensitively and only on a need-to-know basis.
Experience & Approach
I also work in crisis response, supporting people after major traumatic events. I have experience with neurodiverse clients and use a flexible, integrative approach —tailored to your needs and pace.
Starting Counselling
Your first session is a relaxed, no-pressure space to see if we’re a good fit. There’s no expectation to have goals—many people simply need a space to begin talking. I’ll ask a few questions to understand what’s going on for you and how we might work together. Sessions are usually weekly to start, but I’m flexible based on what feels right for you.
Get in Touch
Questions are welcome before you book. Feel free to call, text or email. If I’m in a session, just leave a message and I’ll get back to you.

school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

The National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society This Not For Profit association of counsellors and psychotherapists aim to support the counselling profession, members and training organisations. In 2013 the NCS register was accredited by the Professional Standards Authority under the Accredited Voluntary Register Scheme. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
