About me
Hi there, and a warm welcome. I’m Lou Rose Coulthard, a qualified psychotherapeutic counsellor and therapist. I’m a kind, genuine, down-to-earth person and am naturally hopeful, curious and creative.
Working in-person and online, I'm a collaborative, creative therapist with a background in theatre-making and writing. My practice focuses on narrative exploration examining how the stories we tell about ourselves shape our identities. Together, we can work to reframe chapters of this story, helping to integrate your experiences and gain more understanding and agency over your own life in the present.
What to Expect
I provide a professional, safe, and non-judgmental space. Our sessions centre around building awareness of present thoughts, feelings, and behavioural patterns, fostering a deeper self-understanding.
My Approach
- Humanistic: Embracing your unique potential, honouring personal choice and supporting what feels manageable for you in each moment.
- Holistic & Gestalt: Connecting psychotherapy with embodied experience to bridge the mind and body.
- Creative Practice: Integrating imagination, metaphor, and optional art materials to explore complex feelings that words might not fully express.

PGDip Humanistic Counselling & Psychotherapy
I am a member of the BACP, Fully Insured, registered with the ICO and DBS Checked. As such I am committed to ethical practice, being trauma-informed, anti-oppressive and inclusive.
The areas of experience listed below are common themes in my practice, but therapy is rarely about fitting neatly into a category. More often than not, the common thread is feeling overwhelmed or stuck—in a pattern, a relationship, or a story about yourself that no longer serves you. We can work together from wherever you are right now to help you move forward.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
