About me

A warm welcome to you

If loss, anxiety, relationship trauma or struggles with neurodivergence have led you to be looking on this site for help, then I want to start by offering my compassion and affirmation. You've taken the first step.

Figuring out which counsellor is right for you, when you're in a low or vulnerable space, can be very difficult. I hope you feel reassured and grounded by what you read here. I hope it conveys the warm, friendly way I work. I am always led by you and your needs - and as a relationally trained counsellor, I always hold your relationships – both with self and others – at the core of my person-centred working style.  I work in a warm, supportive style with a focus on the 'working relationship' between you and me. I am quite informal in how I speak, and I don't mind if you swear or use slang.

A safe space to talk about your relationships with others

You might be pulled towards counselling by a need to talk about an important relationship, and what impact its had on you. Together, we can explore your connections and how you feel about them, helping you make changes where needed.

You won't be 'too much' for me – I know that emotional healing can take time and once we're working together, I'll be in your corner with you, for as long as it takes.

As we explore your relationships and attachments, you'll relate to yourself differently, too

I can help you start to learn to listen to your inner self and value your own wisdom. This might sound like a big step - especially if you are anxious, neurodivergent, or traumatised. But learning this will help you feel more resilient and emotionally mature. The whole point of counselling is to understand yourself better, and feel stronger and calmer once you've processed things. I'm here to listen with empathy, provide a safe private space, and bear witness to your growth - whether it's for a targeted piece of work over a set number of sessions, or whether you'd prefer to work in a more 'open-ended' way.  Whatever feels right for you.

My integrative philosophy prioritises a sense of wholeness, which can benefit you if you feel something is missing, or if you feel 'in pieces'. Integrative counselling means I have learned ways of working from lots of different approaches and have incorporated them into my own unique way of working, so your counselling experience with me will be as unique as you are.

My areas of therapeutic interest

Some of my areas of interest and experience have come from my own lived experience, either personally or professionally, based on client groups who are drawn to working with me.

I have experience working with:

  • People who are experiencing non-death loss and grief, eg relationship betrayals, separation and divorce, job losses, family estrangement, house moves and relocation
  • Family members of people with addictions, including codependency, guilt and shame
  • People who have survived emotionally unhealthy relationships including narcissistic abuse, sexual trauma and domestic violence.
  • People who are navigating new romantic relationships after sexual or emotional/ mental abuse or trauma

I also have a special interest in certain marginalised groups:

  • Neurodivergent people especially late diagnosed Autistic and ADHD women
  • LGBTQ, queer, trans, non-binary, genderfluid and agender (I am a member of TACTT and I actively welcome non-cisgender identities)
  • Polyamorous & / or kinky folk
  • Chronically ill people
  • Parents who home educate their children

Together, we can help you understand your past experiences, process shame, trauma and grief, and help you like yourself more. I hope my profile has given you a sense of who I am and what I can offer - a genuinely caring, down-to-earth counsellor with an emphasis on connection and healing.

Please do get in touch if you'd like to learn more or discuss booking in for a session. I work online and in-person. Due to expanding my practice, as of 1st March 2025, I have 4 in-person weekly or fortnightly slots available on Thursdays starting 27th March 2025.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have an advanced diploma and a degree in Integrative Counselling BSc from Middlesex University. During my training I began my placement at a local sexual abuse charity, where I still volunteer.

I am a member of both UKCP and BACP and I adhere to their ethical guidelines, and their requirements for ongoing training to keep my skills up-to-date.

Before I trained as a counsellor, I worked in adult mental health for over a decade, including working as a group facilitator and keyworker in various residential rehab units for people with addictions, where I keyworked vulnerable women, and led the family support groups.

I have also worked supporting people who are in a mental health crisis due to grief or depression.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Key details

Wheelchair user access info
Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a Counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.

For in-person sessions, I use a spacious ground floor room in a local community centre, which has a private entrance - a portable wheelchair ramp is available if needed. The venue has toilets, however these are sadly not accessible to wheelchair users
