About me

Hi, my name’s Lorella. I’m a qualified Psychotherapist & Counsellor offering a safe, confidential, and non-judgemental space where you can explore whatever may be bringing you to counselling. I believe that everyone’s experience is unique, and I aim to provide a supportive environment where you can feel heard, understood and accepted.

My approach is integrative, meaning I draw from different therapeutic approaches to offer support that is tailored to you. I work collaboratively with clients, taking the time to understand your individual needs and circumstances. Whether you are experiencing anxiety, low mood, relationship difficulties, life changes, stress, or simply feeling that things have become too difficult to manage, counselling can provide an opportunity to make sense of what you are experiencing and explore ways forward.

My aim is to help you feel comfortable being yourself, without judgement, and to support you at your own pace. If you feel we may be a good fit, get in touch to book a free 15-minute chat either online or via telephone. This is a chance to talk, ask any questions, and see if working together feels right for you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) and hold a Level 7 Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of Salford.

My counselling training began with a Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Skills from Stockport College, followed by my postgraduate training in counselling and psychotherapy. I also hold a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) in Secondary School Teaching and a BSc (Hons) in Biology.

Alongside my counselling training, my background in education has given me extensive experience of working with people from a range of backgrounds and circumstances. This has developed my ability to listen, communicate effectively and create a supportive, respectful environment.

I have experience providing one-to-one counselling across a range of settings, including charities, education and mental health services. I have supported people with a variety of personal, emotional and mental health difficulties, as well as challenges relating to relationships, caring responsibilities and employment.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
