About me

If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or struggling with anxiety, stress, or patterns of behaviour that feel hard to change, you’re not alone—and you don’t have to work through it on your own.

I’m Lizzie, a therapist offering a supportive and non-judgemental space to explore whatever is going on for you. I work with a range of difficulties including anxiety, low mood, stress, relationship challenges, low self-esteem, and feeling stuck or lost.

I also have particular experience working with addiction and recovery, including alcohol, substance use, and compulsive behaviours such as gambling, sex, or shopping. Often, these patterns begin as ways of coping with stress, emotional pain, or difficult experiences, but over time can start to feel less like a choice and more like something that’s taking over. Together, we can begin to understand what’s underneath and find more supportive ways forward.

I also work with clients with ADHD, including the impact this can have on emotional regulation, overwhelm, and self-esteem. For some, this can show up in feeling misunderstood, struggling with intense emotions, or developing coping strategies that no longer feel helpful.

My work is grounded in both professional training and lived experience. Having navigated my own journey from addiction to recovery, I understand how complex and personal change can be. I offer empathy, honesty, and respect for wherever you are right now.

Building a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship is at the heart of my work. Together, we can explore your experiences, coping strategies, relationships, and sense of self, and begin to make sense of things at a pace that feels right for you.

You don’t need to have everything figured out to get in touch. If something doesn’t feel right, that’s enough. I offer a free 15-minute phone call so you can ask questions and see whether working together feels like a good fit.

Alongside my core counselling training a MSc in Integrative Counselling, I have undertaken specialist training in:

In addition to my private practice, I work within an NHS IAPT service as a High Intensity Therapist and have experience working with people from a wide range of cultural backgrounds and communities.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
