About me
My training is in integrative counselling, drawing on a wealth of therapeutic knowledge, with a person-centred approach at the heart of my work. I see the relationship between client and counsellor as key and the importance of trust, confidentiality and a non-judgemental, respectful approach vital.
I see my role as counsellor as holding a safe space for my clients, helping to facilitate their personal growth. I aim to help my clients shed light on the issues that may be holding them back and causing distress. In so doing, this will help to develop greater self-awareness with an emphasis on self-compassion and empowerment. My hope is for each of my clients to find their unique potential and inner contentment.
I have advanced diplomas in counselling and psychotherapy. I work with young people and adults alike, combining work as a school counsellor with my own private practice from home where I offer face to face and online sessions. I have a particular interest in bereavement, loss and related issues and have done specialist training in grief work.
Experiencing loss of some form is likely to be experienced by us all in our lifetimes, and can be deeply raw, difficult and challenging. It is humbling and a privilege for people to share these deep inner feelings and I aim to help steer them through and navigate a way forward. Sometimes, in the darkest times, this can be about holding the hope for them.
I also have extensive experience of working with neurodiversity and gender fluid clients, as well as working with deaf young people. I have a level 2 training in British sign language. I have also done a Foundation in Integrative Sandplay Therapy, which is a creative and fascinating way of working with children and adults alike and can help to access a deeper understanding of ourselves and our relationships.
