About me

I am a warm, kind and compassionate counsellor working in person in Witney or anywhere in the UK online.  I am deeply committed to working with clients to find their own way through the struggles they are experiencing by providing genuine support, gentle challenge and true collaboration.

Life can be really challenging!  Many times in our lives we will be able to take on these challenges and find our own way through, but sometimes we can feel stuck or overwhelmed and they can feel like mountains. Try as we may, they seem impossible to climb alone. Counselling can provide the opportunity to pause, to be heard and to hear and understand ourselves in new ways.

Perhaps you’re struggling with persistent anxious thoughts,  panic attacks, feelings of hopelessness, relationship issues, navigating loss or trauma,  or experiencing fertility or family difficulties…please know you’re not alone.

I understand we are all shaped by our experiences and never cease to be amazed at the human spirit that adapts in order to survive. Sometimes we may be so used to behaving and relating in the ways that have been necessary in the past, other possibilities are out of our awareness. Working together, we can uncover these ways of being, hold them up to the light and discover what's still useful to you now and what could be different for a better future.

Some clients find simply having the space to talk and be heard is enough to see significant change. As a qualified trauma counsellor, I've also witnessed the powerful impact of sharing information about how our nervous system responds when faced with trauma and threat, even years after an event, and how it can help normalise the sudden onset of panic or overwhelming anxiety. Knowing you're not going 'crazy' is in itself sometimes enough to start the healing process. Working together, we can find what’s useful to you on your journey.

Now you’re ready to take that step, I’m here for you and provide that safe, non judgemental, compassionate space you need to work out what’s going on for you now and how you might like that to be different in the future.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
