About me
I am a highly experienced Cognitive Behavioural Therapist and Interpersonal Therapist, who is fully accredited by both the BABCP and IPT UK. I am based in Chinnor and serve South Oxon and surrounding areas, as well as further afield with the expansion of digital therapy.
Within my clinical practice, I have learnt that depression and anxiety difficulties do not discriminate, and we can all feel low, anxious and/or stressed at times. You may find yourself withdrawing from things you once enjoyed or previously thought nothing off doing or may suddenly find yourself feeling overwhelmed or negative about the future.
In your therapy sessions with me, we can explore what has triggered this change in you, and what is maintaining your difficulties. Once we have a shared understanding of your difficulties, we can establish a treatment plan of what is going to help to restore your wellbeing.
With my support you can learn to be your own therapist so that you have the tools to challenge your difficulties and be able to maintain your wellbeing long-term.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have over 17 years of mental health experience and have worked in the NHS for over 10 years. Initially, in 2007 I completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Person Centred and Existential Counselling and worked with adolescents and survivors of sexual abuse.
After a few years I undertook further studies with The University of Reading and completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Evidence Based Interventions. Following on from this, in 2018 I completed a MSc in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy with Buckinghamshire New University, and have since been practicing as a CBT Therapist within the NHS. As a CBT Therapist, I help people experiencing common mental health difficulties such as depression, generalised anxiety (GAD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Social Phobia, Health Anxiety, Panic, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), as well as helping people with low self esteem and perfectionism.
In 2021 I undertook training in Interpersonal Psychotherapy with The Anna Freud Centre, and I am an accredited Interpersonal Practitioner. With Interpersonal Therapy (IPT) I help people that are experiencing depression due to life events/changes or difficulties in relationships, which often leads to recurrent depression.
