About me
Hi, I'm Lisa, a BACP Accredited Counsellor based In the NG13 area of Nottinghamshire.
Looking for a counsellor isn't always easy. I'm glad you've found your way here. You might not know exactly what's wrong, only that things don't feel quite right. Perhaps anxiety has become louder, life feels heavier than it used to, or you're simply tired of trying to figure things out on your own. Whatever has brought you here, you don't need to have the right words or all the answers before we begin.
Sometimes life leaves us carrying thoughts and feelings that are confusing, painful or difficult to put into words. It isn't always easy to know where to start, but you don't have to come to therapy with everything figured out. Wherever you are right now, that's where we'll begin.
Our experiences shape us in ways we don't always understand. They can affect how we see ourselves, our relationships and the world around us. Together, we can gently explore what's happened, how it's affecting you now and what you need moving forward.
At the heart of my work is the relationship we build together. I want therapy to feel like a place where you can speak openly without worrying about saying the "right" thing. I'm genuine in how I work and, while I may gently challenge you at times, I'll always do so with kindness, honesty and care.
Working with me is very real. You don't have to pretend, have everything figured out or hide parts of yourself. You can come exactly as you are.
No two people experience life in the same way, so I don't believe therapy should be one-size-fits-all. I take the time to understand you, your experiences and what matters most to you, so that our work together feels personal and relevant to your life.
For me, therapy isn't about having all the answers. It's about creating the space to better understand yourself, make sense of what you're experiencing and find a way forward that feels right for you.
Whenever you’re ready, feel free to get in touch for an initial conversation. We can explore what’s happening for you and if we might be a good fit to work together.
No filters here—just a real, human space for you to be yourself, whatever that looks like.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a fully qualified, BACP Accredited counsellor with experience supporting individuals through anxiety, stress, trauma, and grief. My qualifications include:
ABC Level 2 in Counselling Concepts
ABC Level 3 in Therapeutic Counselling
CPCAB Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling
Alongside my formal training, I have had the privilege of supporting people and families in hospice settings, helping them navigate grief and loss with care and understanding. Volunteering as a police officer gave me insight into the emotional challenges of high-pressure, often traumatic situations, deepening my understanding of resilience and trauma.
Additionally, my volunteer work with Cruse Bereavement has further developed my ability to offer tailored, compassionate support to those experiencing loss.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
