About me

Hi! I'm Lisa and I am a Gestalt Counsellor working online and in person with individuals aged 18 and over.

Below is a little more about the services I offer and what you can expect if you decide you'd like to work with me.

What brings people to counselling?

I work with clients on a range of topics including specific issues such as anxiety and depression, low self-esteem / self worth, relationship issues, grief / bereavement, abuse and suicidal thoughts.

Some clients come to counselling not knowing exactly what they want to talk about, but knowing that they don’t feel like themselves.

Many people come to counselling because they feel ‘stuck’ in some aspect of their lives. Counselling is a space for you to explore what is going on for you, and to help work towards feeling ‘un-stuck’.

How I work

Gestalt counselling considers you as your whole self, and how you are impacted by what is going on currently in your life and your past experiences.

Sometimes we may talk about the past, other times we might talk about your worries for the future, and we will consider how these things are impacting you in the present.

I work collaboratively with you depending on your wants and needs, whether that is a space to talk freely without judgement or to work towards a specific goal.

People are individual and unique, and as such, your sessions are catered to you.

Empathy and compassion are at the heart of my practice. I provide a space for you to explore anything that may be troubling you, and that you may not feel comfortable talking with friends and family about.

Often, when we talk about the things that are weighing on us, we can feel the weight begin to lift, meaning we feel better equipped to deal with our problems.
I truly believe that having the time and space to talk openly in a confidential environment, can be the first step to achieving positive results

Practical information

I offer online sessions (UK wide) and in-person sessions (Winchester) to individuals aged 18 and over.

In-person sessions are held in St Clements Street, Winchester.

There is no on-site parking however, there is a car park a 5-minute walk away which charges £1.80 per hour and Winchester train station is a 10-minute walk.

Both online and in-person sessions are 50 minutes in length.

There is no limit on how many sessions we can have together, I usually see clients once a week initially, with regular check-ins. Some clients opt to reduce the amount of sessions they have as we work towards ending.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
