About me

Trauma can change the way we see ourselves, while shame can keep us feeling stuck convincing us, we're the problem. Neither defines who you are. Therapy offers the opportunity to understand both.

Whether you're living with the effects of domestic abuse, childhood or generational trauma, difficult relationships, addiction within the family, separation, divorce, or emotionally abusive or narcissistic relationship dynamics, therapy can provide a space to pause, make sense of your experiences, and begin to heal.

My approach is both trauma-informed and shame-sensitive, recognising that many of our struggles develop as ways of surviving difficult experiences rather than signs that something is wrong with us. Together, we'll work to understand your story with compassion, helping you reduce shame, rebuild confidence, establish healthy boundaries, and reconnect with your authentic sense of self.

I believe healing begins when you feel genuinely heard, understood, and accepted. Whatever has brought you to counselling, I will work alongside you at a pace that feels right for you, supporting you to build resilience, gain greater self-awareness, and move towards a more balanced and fulfilling life.

Training, qualifications & experience

Alongside my professional training, I have worked closely with survivors of domestic abuse and bring lived experience of the impact of alcoholism on both the individual and their family. These experiences have given me a deeper understanding of the lasting effects that trauma, addiction, and abusive relationships can have on individuals and those closest to them. They have shaped not only my understanding but also the way I work with compassion, curiosity, and a deep respect for every person's story.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Further information

My professional interest and work with trauma has also led me to research the co-occurrence of PTSD and ADHD as part of my dissertation. This has enhanced my understanding of how trauma and neurodivergence can present together, the challenges this can create, and the importance of providing therapy that is compassionate, individualised, and responsive to each person's unique experiences.

I am committed to ongoing professional development to ensure my practice remains informed by current research, ethical practice, and trauma-informed care.
