About me

Hello,
I'm Linda, counsellor and a Gestalt therapist. I work with adults who are bereaved and have anxiety and depression. I offer email counselling as well as face-to -face  sessions  in a therapy centre in Barkingside, Essex or via Zoom.

Counselling by email exchanges once a week is available and is very suitable people who may be time poor or have complicated work/life styles such as shift work or due to  caring responsibilities.

You may be  feeling overwhelmed and struggling at work or home, trying to hold back your tears, hoping no-one notices and yet you feel isolated and misunderstood.

I offer support and and a space where you can share such thoughts and feelings. My compassionate inquiries into you and your situation can help you make sense of what's going on for you. You can develop new ways of seeing and find your own solutions.

What would it be like for you to know that you're  being supported and understood ? Or knowing that, despite your overwhelm you can cope and deal with life's challenges now and in the future.

Counselling is my second career.  I have a background in health and have more than 20 years working in the NHS in the community. I have lived experience of complicated bereavements including suicide, stress at work and disability (hearing loss).

What to expect in your first free introductory session ( 15 minutes video call )

This will be a non- obligatory call , no- cost and the aim is to see if we are a potentially good fit for each other in your counselling journey. I will ask what brings you to counselling and what you are hoping to get out of the process.

For example, for someone who is having anxiety because of a toxic relationship at work , they may want to explore ways of calming themselves down so they can be assertive.

If you have questions about counselling in general or or whether the style of counselling I offer is suitable, please ask.

What to expect in your first session

If we  agree that we could work together- we  can agree on a regular slot on a  specific day and time for a certain number of weeks, either short term or long term .

The first  face to face session and the first few thereafter also includes a history taking and a discussion and an agreement on the process of counselling.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
